Buzzy Ingredients That I Love: Squalane & Ceramides
Squalane: What is it?
Squalane is an emollient that works to moisturize and soften your skin. Not to be confused with squalene, which occurs naturally in our bodies and is hydrogenated into squalane, a more stable substance that can then be used in our skincare. Squalane is easily absorbed by all skin types and works like our natural skin’s oil and protects from moisture loss. Squalane is a lightweight ingredient, and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy after use.

Ceramides: What are they?
Ceramides, in a nutshell, are fats that occur naturally in your skin. They make up about 50% off our skin’s composition, and protect our skin barrier against environmental stressors. But as we age (read: after 30), our skin produces less ceramides which can lead to a damaged skin barrier and potentially rough skin texture. Using ceramides in your skincare routine protects your skin, locks in moisture, and makes skin more tolerable to active ingredients.
